how to make a difference

Global warming has slowly grown from an ignored myth into full-scale fact. People have accepted global warming as mankind’s fault and started asking themselves: “what can I do?” Of course, some people say that it’s gone too far to be slowed down or stopped. However there are many little things we can do to make a difference. If we try, most of us can do our part to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that we put into the atmosphere.
The weather is very hot these days; and some of you tend to turn on air-con when you are at home. Electricity is getting more expensive nowadays. Since air-conditioner consumes a lot of energy, people could save some money by cutting a bit from cooling. A fan is enough to cool you down in a hot day.
Some people want to be environmentally friendly; and yet they travel abroad as often as physically possible and drive thirsty sport utility vehicles when they need to get further than a quarter mile. Switching to a smaller car, riding a bike and, for longer distances, using public transport would be a lot cheaper, and who wants to spend big money these days? People want to save cash, and making the green solutions cheaper than the polluting ones would certainly make people choose the green one.
Did you know that you can help the environment if you buy recyclable products instead of non-recyclable ones? Look for the recycle mark – three arrows that make a circle – on the package. Recyclable products are usually made out of things that already have been used. It usually takes less energy to make recycled products than to make new ones. The less energy we use, the better.
Another way to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that we put into the air is to buy products that don't use as much energy. By conserving energy, we help reduce climate change and make the Earth a better place. Some products – like certain cars and stereos – are made specially to save energy.

Reduce; reuse and recycle are three ways which help the environment. Reduce the amount of Earth’s source that we use. Try not to buy things that you don’t really need. When you buy things, try to buy cool stuffs. Some stuff requires less energy to make than others, so buy them. Reuse containers and products; repair what is broken or give it to someone who can repair it. Recycle cans, bottles, plastic bags, and newspapers. When you recycle, you send less trash to the landfill and you help save natural resources, like trees, oil, and elements such as aluminium.
In conclusion, forget about unnecessary stuff, like a room temperature of 25 o C, avoid using your car, which should be a small one anyway, and change small things. You might even get a change for the better.

Accountant is really a promise job for my future. I’m studying in secondary level now. But to get to a high position for accountant, I think I must have at least a university certificate. So my goal now is to get in to a JC with all cost. Only when I can go to JC, my opportunity to go to university is high so that I can get the job that I desire. I plan to study double course which is bachelor of accountancy and business in SMU. So I have to study hard, very hard from now on. As a foreign student, I only have one purpose when I came to Singapore is to study, do a good job here and go back, run my own business, and take care of my younger brother. So I think I can achieve my goal because I have a clear goal and ambition.

growth camp

Growth camp was a great time that I had together with the school. This is first camp in chong boon.
On the day of Growth camp, the whole school were gathered at the perfect square to wait for the teacher to bring us to where we suppose to go. Finally, the announcement which called for all Malaysia camp members was announced. Felicia and I hurried to the meeting place. After that, Mr Yip led us to the bus. When everyone got in, the bus slowly moved. This is the beginning of our journey to Malaysia.
After 2 hours of travelling, we reached a school in Malaysia. According to the programmes, this school is especially for the invalid. We were gathered in the school hall after we walk inside the school. The principal had a talk before we visit around the school. She said that the job of the teachers were quite hard because they had to look after the children who are not very normal. She advised us not to affair of them because they were people like us too. After sharing with us about the history of the school, how the system was, the school staffs bring us to some of their classroom. At first I was a bit scared of them. Sometimes, some of them reacted a bit strange. However, after i while, I realised that they were very friendly. They were nice people. They taught us to make some household thing s that they were learning. The facilities here were not as good as in Singapore school. The fact was they are pretty poor because they are not funded by the government. The children here were taken in good care of the teachers and the staffs. I could see happiness in their eyes even thought they were disabling. This was a good experience for me.
After we left the school, we stopped at a local food court to have our lunch. When every stomach was filled with food, we continued our journey to the camp location.
To our surprise, our camp was at a sea food restaurant. It was not a camp actually, it was a tour. We got to sleep in a hotel with air-con, bed, and attached bathroom not in a tent. Our dinner was fabulous. There was crab, prawn, fish, chicken, soup. It was an 8-dishes dinner. I could not believe that they called this a camp. We played a game called partner at night. Each of us got to find a partner; and the partner was the one who guided us to where we put our things.
The next day was our hiking trip. We climbed a mountain. There were a lot of locks during the journey to the top of the mountain. The terrible rain fell down and made the ground became muddy. People were struggling to move. All of us were exhausted when we got back to the bus. Despite the cold of the bus air-con, we fell asleep straight away.
The camp was pretty nice so as the people. I get closer to them than last year. Thanks to the camp.

Singapore flyer

On March, I had a chance to experience Singapore, the largest fairy wheel in the world. This is a school program that every sec 3 express student had a chance to go to the Singapore flyer with 70% subsidies prices. Everyone was very excited because the flyer had not opened to public, thus nobody had went there before.
It was on Friday, a cloudy, dark morning. I went to school with a cheerful mood. I was not going to study but going to Singapore flyer. That thought made me got out of my bed quickly than usual. When I reached school, sec 3 student were gathered at the perfect square while waiting for the bus to come. I joined my class at the first row. The weather was getting better. Some sunlight rayed weakly down to the ground. The sun was still hiding behind the gray cloud as he doesn’t want us to see his face. However, it didn’t look like it was going to rain. My form teacher, Mr Bala, divided the class in to half A and B. From A, B we were group in to different group. I was in group A4. All group A followed Miss Ho during the whole journey. After grouping, finally we got in the bus; and head our way to Singapore flyer.
As the bus moving around the city, I was thinking what it will like to be there in the flyer. The ride must be fast thought because it is huge. If it moved slowly, it would properly take quite a while to complete one round. Once I got in to the capsules, the whole view of Singapore would be in my eyes. I let my mind fly around the flyer for a while.
When my friend told me to go down because we had reached the flyer, I stopped my imagination stop immediately. We sat at the second floor and listened to Miss Ho instruction before we got our ticket. After we knew clearly what to do, we went into the capsule. To my surprise, it moved really slowly. . A smell of fresh air went in to my nose as I stepped in. All of us went in one capsule. The capsule was as big as a size of a bus. There was air-con, TV plasma, camera in side. It was surrounding by glass so we can see through it.
The capsule moved slowly and got higher. The panoramic view was enjoyable. I could see everything in Marina bay. I could see Marina bay Financial, Merlion Park, the Fullerton Singapore, etc... at the highest point, the boarding were very anticipating overwhelmed by the beautiful scenery. The surrounding slay scrapers, especially the esplanade, very prominent.
Looked at the view, I wondered how I would be like if I was here at night, maybe with a special person. It would be very romantic. The view outside would be fill with flickering light. It would be cold and cool.
During the ride, we had to do some activities. We used one of our classmates as a measuring instrument to measure the height of the capsules. That was pretty fun.
This trip is a new experience for me. I really enjoyed the scenery. I want to come back here again to see the unfinished construction. I will definitely recommend it to other people. The magnificent bird’s eye view Singapore is worth recommending.

NEW TECHNOLOGY, A THREAT OR A PROMISE ?????

Sciences are more and more develops so new technology are invented everyday. But is it a promise or a threat to us? It depends on the purpose of how you use it. In the past, with the help of new technology, industries of various countries had grown up rapidly in the past and until now. But it also has disadvantage, the American invented atomic bomb and they bombed and destroyed the whole two cities of Japan and left out a lot of consequences. But for me, new technology is more a promise than a threat.

Technology is a promise when people use it correctly, when scientists and government focus on how to make life better for people. Technology allows us to find way to cure incurable diseases. Computer helps us to find information easier, buying things and work at home. And the fact is that it made the world become smaller by the invention of steam engines with the appearances of steam boat, steam train. It made a big change in the world as we all know the industrial revolution which changes totally the way people used to work in the past. And who knows what is going to happen in the next one hundred years?? Maybe at that time, robots will works for people and human being, they only need to learn how to use and control those intelligent machines. New technologies really promise a bright future for the world.

But whatever has good thing, there is also bad thing inside. Even though scientists know how to create all the good machines which make life easier for people, they also know how to create things that can destroy everything. When nuclear bomb came in to the world, everyone, every country is always afraid of the power of atomic bomb which can dismantle their whole countries or even the whole world within some seconds. New technology also brought to mankind a big problem about our environment. Within the past 50 years, the Earth temperature had been increased and it is continuing to go up. Technologies do not always bring good to life.

Somehow I believe that people technology had helped us a lot. It makes life better than ever. I think that human are kind and clever enough to know how to use technologies for the sake of our Earth Mother. Everything will be fine if everyone is doing their best for human future. Technologies are definitely a promise.

CHONG BOON SCHOOL RULE

What do you think about school rule in Chong boon? School rule is important to all of us. It consists of the attendance of the students, their behavior and their appearance. It ensure a clean and safe environment for everyone to learn. I think that Chong Boon rule is reasonable and it’s good that we have rule on school.

Talk about Chong Boon school rule, we will immediately think about the uniform, the appearance of the student. The rule state that students should be in their proper attire at all time, and hair should be neat and clean. Some pupils think that this is unreasonable as the skirt is too long and when they tie up their hair or cut it short, they will not look nice. But what do people think when they see a student with a very short uniform skirt or a guy with funny hair style? They will think that those students are not good and immediately after that they will think about the school that they attend to is a lousy school and they should not send their children there. The appearance of the students represent for the face of Chong Boon. It understands why student should keep their look nicely.

The attendance of students in school is very important, thus Chong Boon school rule is very strict about it. It ensures that students don’t miss any of the lessons, which will affect their study at school as well as their mark, their future. It shows the regard with respect of the students with the school as well as with the teachers and fellow students.
This is also one way to teach student how to discipline themselves in order to adapt to the world tomorrow.

To have a clean and safe environment for everyone to study, Chong Boon has set up many rule about the behavior of the students. This is very important as the behavior affect a lot to one character and others. These rules forbid us from impolite, disrespectful and rude behaviors. It also teaches and prepares for us the skills about how to treat people. Violence is strictly prohibited in school for the student to have a safe place to do their job in peace and also to ensure that the students who are studying in chong boon will not become members of gangster. They will be someone who knows how to use their brain whenever they do anything.

Chong boon is a good school for me and I think other people will have the same thinking as me. It is good because everyone knows how to respect others, and it is a safe and clean environment. Thank for the school rule so that we can enjoy ourselves at school.
